Mascara 2010
Mascara 2009 is now in the history books.  It was a great weekend and everyone who participated praised the good time that they had.  From the Hamster Derby on Friday to the Ravioli Wrestling on Saturday to the Crawfish Boil on Sunday and ending with the BIG race on Monday, the events were well attended.  The Ravioli Wrestling brought out the gag reflex in a lot of viewers, but they all admitted to loving it.  The Mascara race was run by eleven participants, the most in the ten year history of the event.  The winner for best time was Karbin from the Ninth Circle.  Best Drag went to Darrin from the 700 Club, Most Money Collected ($1670) went to Cha Cha from Rawhide, Ms Mascara went to Joe from Oz, and the Ken GrandPre' Award for Worst Drag went to Mark who was running for Glazers of Louisiana.  A big thanks goes out to everyone who participated and who donated.  The weekend raised $8629.62 all of which went to the NOCCA Institute.

New Orleans for the Holidays
There is no place better to spend the holidays than New Orleans.  From the strolling Christmas carolers to the beautifully decorated homes and businesses, you will feel like you have been taken back in time.  Not to mention the welcoming weather that will greet you.  The CrescentCity has been named one of the best cities to spend New Year's Eve by many national publications.  Why not?  New Orleans invented the party and the improved upon it.  Be at Jackson Square at midnight to watch the  baby drop from Jax Brewery and stick around to enjoy the fireworks which will explode over the Mississippi River.  New Year's  Day we invite Florida and Cincinnati into the Superdome for the Sugar Bowl.  Five days later, on January sixth sees us celebrating Twefth Night and the beginning of the Mardi Gras season.

Fourth of July
Most people do not know that New Orleans was the first city in the nation that celebrated the Fourth of July.  Not only was it the first, but it is still the best place to be for Independence Day.  There are events going on all weekend long in the Fruit Loop from pie eating contests to baton twirling to a good old fashioned three legged race.  Stop by you favorite bar for a complete list of all the events.  Don't forget the fire works, which are spectacular.  They are at 9:00 PM on the fourth.
